Entities that do not meet specific eligibility criteria cannot register under the Startup India scheme. For instance, businesses incorporated more than 10 years ago or with an annual turnover exceeding INR 100 crore are ineligible. Additionally, sole proprietorships and unregistered partnerships cannot apply, as only Private Limited Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), and registered Partnership Firms qualify. Entities not working towards innovation, development, or improvement of products, processes, or services, or those lacking a scalable business model with high potential for employment or wealth creation, are also excluded. Businesses involved in activities restricted by law or deemed non-innovative by DPIIT cannot register under this scheme.
