Mergers and acquisitions in New York

Ownership of a business, business entity or its operating units may be transferred to or merged with another business, a process known as mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
The term mergers and acquisitions (M&A) refers to the merger of companies or their key financial assets through intercompany financial transactions. A company may purchase and absorb another company outright, combine with another company to form a new company, acquire some or all of its key assets, conduct a public takeover, or initiate a hostile takeover. These are all M&A activities.
